Abstract

The fluorescence enhancement and quenching of Rh6G absorbed on the mechanically polished Ag and Cu surfaces are investigated by using laser spectroscopic method. The result shows that both Ag and Cu surfaces present the fluorescence enhancement when Rh6G molecule absorbed on the surface. The factor of the fluorescence enhancement on Ag substrate is greater than that on the Cu substrate. Increasing the distance of the Rh6G molecules to the surface of the substrate, the Ag surface keep showing the enhancement effect to the fluorescence emission while the Cu substrate present fluorescence quenching effect.
